Christ’s kingdom is eternal not only because it is without end (see Luke 1:33) but also because it is the kingdom of the Eternal One. The emphasis is qualitative more than temporal. Eternity will not be endless sequence as much as it will be the presence of the One in whom time ceases to have significance. He is before, during, and after all things. To enter his kingdom is to share in this perspective. For the title “our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” compare verse 1 where the only difference is “God”
